Schedule of Classes

Spaces for in-person courses are limited. Before purchasing a course, please submit a registration form to ensure we have space for you. We will email you confirmation and an invoice that can be paid by cheque, cash, e-transfer, or by credit card in the shop below.

Courses

Beginner Riding & Horsemanship

Just starting out, or been out the saddle for a long time?  This course is for you.  In these four two-hour classes you will learn to catch, lead, groom, tack up and un-tack a horse before and after your group riding lesson.  Our school horses are gentle teachers who will carry you safely while you learn to walk and trot through circles and turns, over poles, and around obstacles.

Level 1-2 Riding

For students who have passed a minimum of Horsemanship Level 1. You should be able to tack-up and untack your horse independently. Students will need to have horses tacked up and be ready to ride at the class start time and allow for time after class to cool down, untack, and turn in their horses.

Riding & Horsemanship Level 2

This class is for riders who have passed Riding Level 1 and are working towards Riding Level 2. Horsemanship material is similar to Level 1 but more in-depth. Call us at 604 304 0201 or email info@academiecavallo.ca if you’re unsure if this is the right class for you.

Riding Level 3+

This class is for riders who are comfortable at walk, trot, and canter, and wanting to move on to jumping and/or more advanced dressage.

Mounted Combat Fundamentals

Learn fundamental swordplay skills on the ground before you get on a horse with sword in hand. This four-week course will take you through the basics of Italian longsword and single-handed sword, and give you an introduction to the Mounted Combat program at Academie Cavallo.

Mounted Combat Green Spur Class

Designed for sword practitioners at the apprentice (Green Cord or Green Spur) level, this class covers the swordplay skills you’ll need to assess for your Blue Spur, and gives insight into how swordplay alters from the ground to the horse.

Mounted Combat Mastery

If you have your Green Spur or higher, come and join us on horseback to work on swordplay, riding, games, and sparring skills.  Those without Level 1 Riding are welcome to join us on the ground for on-foot versions of the plays and drills.  Limit of 6 participants per class till future notice.

1st & 3rd Sunday of the month, 1 – 4pm
cost: $100 per class
Prerequisites: Riding Level 1 plus Mounted Combat Fundamentals or Green Cord rank

Tuition and Punch Cards

There are three ways to pay for classes: monthly tuition, punch cards, and per-class drop-ins. If you’re taking more than one class per month tuition almost always works out to be less expensive. However, if your schedule is variable, a 10-session punch card may be the solution. Below is a price comparison of monthly tuition vs 10-class punch cards vs drop-in classes.
