Working Equitation

Working Equitation is one of the fastest-growing sports around. Stemming from the vaquero tradition of the Iberian peninsula, the modern discipline of Working Equitation marries the strength and suppleness of dressage with the agility and bravery of trail and cattle horses. This makes Working Equitation one of the best cross-training activities for modern warhorses. Join expert Sandy Lang to work your horse through the obstacles of an Ease of Handling course, including gates, patterns, props, and ring-spearing.
Pre-tournament Sparring

Bring your sparring gear for friendly rounds to prepare for the Accolade Tournament on September 17th. Participants must adhere to Academie Duello’s Sparring Rules. Equipment should conform to Academie Duello’s Sparring Gear Requirements.
Equine First Aid II

Intro to Mounted Combat
time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

Never ridden a horse or swung a sword? No problem! In this workshop you will learn longsword fundamentals from the ground, and have a group riding lesson that includes handling a sword from horseback. This class is also recommended for experienced swordsmen with little or no horse experience, and experienced riders who have done little or no sword work.
Armoured Combat 101

Find out whether you have what it takes to be a knight in shining armour! In this workshop you’ll practise the fundamental movements of fighting in armour. This workshop is suitable for beginners — no armour necessary! For experienced harnissfechten practitioners, this is an excellent opportunity to get individual coaching from these internationally reknowned instructors.
Sword & Cape

For the Renaissance sword-fighter, the cape was not just a fashion statement — it was a serious means of defense. Devon Boorman, Maestro d’Armi of Academie Duello, which teach you how to defend, distract, and disarm with this sartorial secondary weapon. Equipment needed: a single-handed sword and a cape, blanket, or jacket. Some loaners available.
Mounted Games
time: 4:30 – 6:00pm
Instructor: Isabel Landels
Level: Beginner – Advanced
Prerequisites: Riding level 1 or equivalent
Mounted Games are an age-old training device for cavalry of all eras. This session provides a chance to practise these mounted games of skill before Sunday’s tournament, with coaching from Prince Philip Games Masters. Riders must have Riding level 1 or an equivalent certification, or have been assessed earlier if using school horses.
